Kay Dover, Studio Owner & Certified Bikram Yoga Instructor
Step into Kay's class and prepare to be the most powerful version of yourself. Before becoming a Bikram yoga instructor, she was a Montessori teacher, an English teacher, a wildland firefighter, and a student of dance and language. Kay's experience in education feeds her approach to teaching yoga, which is to provide precise instruction complemented by holding a loving space for students to have their struggles and celebrate their success. Kay has been practicing Bikram yoga since 2005 and teaching since 2013. She practiced 5-6 days a week throughout her pregnancy with little Alva and credits her smooth pregnancy and delivery to her regular practice and healthy lifestyle. Building a Bikram yoga studio has always been a dream of hers, and she's super excited to share this amazing practice with her favorite neighborhood: St. Johns!
Orlo Flock, Studio Owner & Cheerleader
When Orlo grins at you from behind the desk, you feel like you're a cherished friend he's been expecting! This guy is passionate about living life, and about helping you live yours in the most enjoyable way. While you're in class (if he's not practicing beside you in his snazzy shorts) Orlo works hard to maintain the clean and lovable environment we treasure. Ask him anything! If he doesn't have the answer, he'll find it for you. Orlo's background includes everything from breaking mustangs in the high desert, wildland firefighting, loss prevention, radio disc jockey-ing, entrepreneur-ing, being a seasoned army combat medic and real estate investing. No matter what he's doing to bring home the bacon, Orlo always places a priority on a healthy life and beautiful relationships. His wife and co-studio-owner Kay introduced him to Bikram yoga, and he fell immediately in love with its simplicity and consistency, Since then he has had a mighty hankering to bring the power of this practice to his friends, family, and his neighbors in St. Johns. He's so glad it's happening here with you!
Lil' Alva Flock, Mascot & Shoe-Reorganizer
Alva is our Official Cuteness Officer and Studio Mascot! She was born in September 2015, after attending hundreds of Bikram yoga classes inside her mom's belly! Some of her favorite things are Christmas lights, keys, playing in water and sweaty people grinning at her. She loves hanging out at the studio with her mom and dad, and she's going to love meeting you!
Peter Simonson, Certified Bikram Yoga Instructor
Come to Peter's class for an upbeat delivery of crystal-clean instructions and a real feel-good energy in the room. Peter attended Bikram Teacher Training in 2014 and has been teaching here in the Portland area since. Peter says, "I am continually humbled and inspired by my fellow practitioners. In a world full of choices, there are so many ways to spend any given 90 minutes. Thank you for making the choice to show up for class and realize these benefits for yourself. Together, may we practice, grow, and enjoy wonderful lives!"
Adam Roper, Certified Bikram Yoga Instructor
For instruction with a sense of humor and a friendly push to do your best, give Adam's class a try! Adam discovered Bikram Yoga in NYC at the end of his freshman year of college in 2002. His first class was challenging to say the least. But he stuck with it and saw almost immediately huge changes and growth from the 90-minute practice. Adam attended Bikram's Teacher Training in 2004 and started teaching full time the moment he graduated. In 2008, Adam opened Bikram Yoga Harlem in upper Manhattan. In 2016 he sold his studio to relocate to the Pacific Northwest in search of a less stressful lifestyle and more liveable city. Adam is overjoyed to be a part of the Portland yoga community and looks forward to seeing you in his class. Adam wants everyone to remember that being a good listener is all you need to be "good at" yoga!
